Aon Names O’Connell as Global Cyber Strategy and Growth Leader
Aon plc named Robert O’Connell as global cyber strategy and growth leader, executive managing director, within its Reinsurance Solutions business. O’Connell will be based in New York.
Previously, O’Connell served as CEO of Bermuda-based Cyber Re Limited and Platform Labs, specializing in cyber underwriting, data science and analytics. In conjunction with O’Connell’s appointment at Aon, Platform Labs has agreed to transfer ownership of its advanced intellectual property portfolio, encompassing multiple cyber-related data science technologies and provisional patent applications registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Senior Leadership Changes at Lancashire Insurance US
Lancashire Holdings Limited, headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, made several changes in its Lancashire Insurance U.S. leadership to take effect during the second quarter of 2025.
The company appointed James Flude as CEO of Lancashire Insurance U.S. Flude, who will relocate to the U.S., is currently group chief underwriting officer, insurance and joined Lancashire in January 2014. He also served as chief underwriting officer for Lancashire Insurance Company (UK) Limited.
Lancashire appointed Huw Jones to the new role of chief underwriting officer for Lancashire U.S. Jones has been CEO of Lancashire Insurance U.S. since its launch in March 2024 and was previously Lancashire’s head of specialty insurance.
James Irvine, the current group chief underwriting officer, reinsurance, has decided to leave the business after 14 years.
Additionally, Matthew Narbett, currently an active underwriter syndicate 2010, is to be appointed deputy group chief underwriting officer. Matthew Thomas, currently an active underwriter syndicate 3010, will be appointed an active underwriter for both Lancashire Syndicates. Rachel Sabbarton will be appointed chief underwriting officer for Lancashire Insurance Company (UK) Limited.
Flude’s and Thomas’s appointments are subject to regulatory and other approvals.
Hippo Appoints Collins as Chief Marketing Officer
Hippo, headquartered in Palo Alto, California, named Andrea Collins as chief marketing officer.
Collins has over 20 years of marketing experience, including her previous role as Hippo’s vice president of marketing from 2017 to 2022. Before rejoining Hippo, Collins served as chief marketing officer at cyber insurtech Cowbell and at Flyhomes, an AI-powered residential real estate platform.
