Here are the finalists for the 2018 Canadian General Counsel Awards
Monique Mercier, executive vice-president of corporate affairs and chief legal officer at Telus Corp., will receive the BLG Stephen Sigurdson Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s Canadian General Counsel Awards ceremony next month.
The awards, founded by The National Post and ZSA Legal Recruitment, will be presented June 11 in Toronto at the Fairmont Royal York hotel.
Mercier is perhaps best known for successfully out-manoeuvring hedge fund Mason Capital’s aggressive attempts to prevent the telecom giant’s move to a single-class share structure. She was awarded a CGCA for litigation in 2013 for the effort.
Some 40 other finalists are in the running for one of the eight CGCAs.
