How does health insurance work while studying abroad?
I’m a U.S. citizen looking into studying in the Netherlands for an agronomy master’s degree in a few years. However, the one big uncertainty for me is how health insurance would work. I’ve had two liver transplants and thus am on medications that cost about $17.5k a month including a monthly infusion and anti-rejection medications, both of which I cannot live without. I’m currently on Medi-Care in FL and thus have it all covered but I will have to change insurance when I am 21, which is this year.
How is medical costs/insurance handled while studying abroad long-term (2 years)? Would I have to pay out of pocket? If so, how much?
Thanks in advance
