Hit by motorcycle today. Need insurance advice/help.

I live in Austin, TX. I was driving to a friend’s house today. To get onto his street, you have to take a left turn across 2 lanes from a merging lane. This is rush hour and thus stop and go traffic. The cars eventually stop and the closest one allows room to make my left turn. I could see there was nobody coming in the additional right lane and began my turn.

As soon as I do, this motorcycle comes gunning through about 40mph to catch up to the next car (even though it was stopped 10 feet away from me). Because I was already mid-turn, he ended up sliding his bike and running into my side panel for my F150.

After checking health and getting everything off the main street, we go through the normal process (insurance, etc). The guy has a couple of small quarter-size road rashes because he was wearing a shirt while driving. I ended up getting a ticket for “Failed to Yield – Left Turn Lane” even though I was waiting my turn for nearly 2 minutes at a dead stop. There was also no cop or witness to corroborate this charge. Just gave it from what the guy told him. This guy was clearly going too fast and did not have time to stop before impact, thus having to lay his bike down, sliding into my car. None of the damages were severe except for his handlebars. We had cops/paramedics show up to do the report and health assessment. Everything was fine and he passed everything just fine. Afterwards, he started complaining about his scrape being on his “bad knee” and his wrist hurt from when falling with the handlebars. I will pictures of the “injuries” below. There was no swelling in the wrist for the record and the EMT gave a pass on a the field test.

My question lies in the fault and insurance depending upon that fault. I found a witness on the side of the street who can corroborate my story about him going to fast, but somehow I still got the ticket (his dad was an ex cop – showed up and began talking with them before giving me the ticket). Can anyone provide advice on how I can avoid this turning into my fault from an insurance standpoint (if it is indeed) or avoiding this guy lying to try and get unnecessary medical treatments causing premiums to skyrocket (currently only paying $450 for 6 months on a 2008 F-150)?

I’ve been told that because he laid the bike down that he was going to fast or not paying attention until too late. Otherwise, he would’ve hit me head-on if I had truly pulled out without time.

Additionally, anything I should avoid saying or include to the claims agent when speaking to them? Any advice would be appreciated as it has been 12 years since I’ve been in a wreck. Thanks.
