By attending the BC Tech Summit, you will be able to interact with and learn from industry professionals who are already pushing the boundaries of innovation and creating the jobs of the future. The line-up of speakers this year reflects a diverse community of professionals including: Jared Cohen, Founder of Google Ideas; Brent Bushnell, CEO & Co-founder of Two Bit Circus; Ryan Holmes, CEO of Hootsuite, among other industry giants. There is simply no better way for students, tech enthusiasts, and job seekers to get their feet wet, collaborate, and build up a powerful network within the technology realm.
A promising industry
In a study done by the Government of British Columbia, over 100,000 people were working in the tech industry in early 2017, a figure that is constantly rising as British Columbians continue to gravitate towards the exciting and lucrative field. Moreover, this industry is also providing people with more good-paying jobs, and producing higher revenue than ever before — the sector alone saw record levels of employment and wages in 2016. This is promising to not only the workers in the industry, but to the economy as well.
With this in mind, the BC Tech Summit is also a great opportunity for younger generations to learn about how this industry is a viable career path. With around 5 per cent of the province’s workforce employed in the sector in 2016 (and counting), the tech industry employs more workers than mining, oil and gas, and forestry sectors combined, making it a career option to highly consider.
With technology being a major catalyst for change in our future, make sure to check out the annual BC Tech Summit in Vancouver coming this May 14–16. There will be over 5,000+ attendees from around the world to showcase job opportunities and leading technological innovations.
Early bird tickets are still available, so make sure to get them before they’re gone.
