I called USAA to ask how to better insure my truck accessories… and they said I have 5000 in coverage.

My 2016 truck was stolen back around September last year. I know I said I had receipts for the items Bed cover and brake controller and I don’t recall them asking for them, they said they just add the accessories to the “value” of the truck. Which ended up adding about 100 bucks I think. When I go to KBB and add a “Hard Tonneau Cover” it adds 193 bucks. Not the 1200 to replace the cover.

But the guy I got ahold of in the insurance department said I have coverage for up to 5000 in accessories, I never changed my policy other than adding the same truck a year newer.

So Monday im going to clarify. What does this accessory coverage usually cover? replacement value of the accessory on a new truck? exactly what I paid for it? or what I might be able to sell it for If I still had it.

Side note I couldn’t understand why I would tell them the cover was on the truck if I was only going to get 100 bucks for it. I should have just left it out entirely and then hope to take it off if the truck had ever been found. but since the insurance gave me an extra 100 Bucks I would have to leave it on.
