{"id":4569,"date":"2018-04-10T03:46:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T07:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lifeinsurance-orleans.ca\/Life-Insurance-Blog\/?guid=feaf61df4ea7df7a2b827af5f2143360"},"modified":"2018-04-10T03:46:22","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T07:46:22","slug":"public-sector-pay-strike-paralyzes-german-airports-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lifeinsurance-orleans.ca\/index.php\/2018\/04\/10\/public-sector-pay-strike-paralyzes-german-airports-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"Public sector pay strike paralyzes German airports, cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERLIN &#8212; Public sector workers are staging a strike for better pay at German airports, local transportation companies and nursery schools.<\/p>\n<p>The walk-out Tuesday has forced German airline Lufthansa to cancel some 800 flights and is expected to paralyze traffic in many of the country&#8217;s western cities.<\/p>\n<p>Affected airports include Frankfurt, which is Germany&#8217;s biggest, as well as Munich, Cologne-Bonn and Bremen.<\/p>\n<p>The ver.di union says Germany&#8217;s healthy economy is filling public coffers with record tax income and public workers deserve a cut.<\/p>\n<p>It wants a 6 per cent, or at least 200 euros ($245) per month, pay rise for some 2.3 million public-sector employees.
