Until then, he will serve as acting CEO, the state-run company said late on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"79\" data-revive-topics=\"carriers\" data-revive-companies data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_840538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-840538\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-840538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/09\/benczak-bogdan-150x150.jpg\" alt width=\"150\" height=\"150\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-840538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bogdan Benczak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Benczak succeeds Tomasz Tarkowski, who had been serving as acting CEO since Andrzej Klesyk left the role in August. At the time, Poland\u2019s Ministry of State Assets said the change was needed to align management with ownership objectives and an ambitious growth strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership change comes as the Polish government plans to merge PZU with the country\u2019s second-biggest lender by assets, Pekao, in a deal that would create a financial group with a market value of over 100 billion zlotys ($27.30 billion).<\/p>\n<p>Benczak, a lawyer, previously worked at PZU from 2008 to 2015, including as head of its Lithuanian operations, before moving to positions at insurers ERGO and Gjensidige.
