About \u00a3129 million has already been paid out.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"79\" data-revive-topics=\"carriers,talent\" data-revive-companies data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<p>The regulator started a review of practices around car insurance claims last year, finding that some providers were making automatic deductions for assumed pre-existing damage to vehicles. This particularly disadvantaged careful drivers, according to the FCA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll step in when consumers aren\u2019t getting fair value \u2014 and we are pleased to see that the practices which led to some unfair payouts have already changed,\u201d Sarah Pritchard, deputy chief executive officer of the FCA, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>These measures are separate from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/news\/international\/2025\/08\/04\/834387.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">probe into the motor finance industry<\/a> that reached the UK\u2019s Supreme Court earlier this year.
