Toronto, ON (July 15, 2025) \u2013 CSIO is pleased to announce that five insurers have achieved CSIO\u2019s Compliance Certification by eliminating all Z-Codes (non-standard coverage codes):<\/p>\n
The Certified insurers have demonstrated that they only use CSIO Standard codes in their data exchange services with their broker partners. Eliminating Z-Codes allows brokers to interpret policy data quickly and easily in their Broker Management System, leading to greater efficiency, more time savings and an enhanced customer experience.<\/p>\n
Additionally, this achievement has resulted in insurers improving their CSIO Standards Certification Rating<\/a> for Personal Lines. The Ratings were developed by CSIO\u2019s Standards Governance Advisory Council to highlight organizations\u2019 commitment to adopting CSIO Data Standards to benefit brokers.<\/p>\n \u201cBy earning Compliance Certification, these five insurers have achieved significant progress in advancing Data Standards to increase broker productivity,\u201d said Kathryn Sinclair, Interim President at CSIO. \u201cTogether, CSIO and the industry are committed to eliminating Z-Codes, ensuring data accuracy and seamless connectivity in the P&C broker channel.\u201d<\/p>\n CSIO works closely with insurers to eliminate Z-Codes by mapping them to CSIO Data Standards. If insurers have a coverage code for which a Standard code does not exist, they can submit a Maintenance Request (MR)<\/a> to replace it with a Standard code. MRs are reviewed and approved by CSIO\u2019s National Standards Working Group, which meets monthly to ensure Standards are up-to-date and respond to business needs. Once approved, MRs can be programmed immediately into insurers\u2019 systems, removing the need for Z-Codes.<\/p>\n Insurers who have eliminated all Z-Codes can apply for CSIO\u2019s Compliance Certification<\/a>.
