Prior to his arrival at Markel, Brooke spent more than eight years at W\/R\/B Underwriting (a Berkley Company), where he started as an operations assistant before progressing to an underwriter \u2013 specializing in political risk and political violence insurance solutions. <\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext-2\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"162\" data-revive-topics=\"catastrophe,natural-disasters,political-risk,underwriting\" data-revive-companies=\"bhspecialty,markel,markelcorp\" data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe war and terrorism market \u2013 by its very nature \u2013 is increasingly complex, driven by growing geopolitical events, tensions and regulatory developments, which are resulting in more advanced attacks from terror groups and lone wolves across the world,\u201d Gordge commented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatt\u2019s impressive background in this field will help to elevate our service and product offerings, ensuring we\u2019re able to continue providing successful risk transfer solutions for insureds, particularly in higher-risk territories, while strengthening Markel\u2019s position as a leading terrorism insurer,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<h3>***<\/h3>\n<p><strong>BHSI Promotes Kidd to Newly Created Role of Head of Underwriting in Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI)<\/strong> announced that it has promoted <strong>Louise Kidd<\/strong> to the newly created role of head of Underwriting in Europe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_819412\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-819412\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-819412\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/04\/kidd-louise-150x150.jpg\" alt width=\"150\" height=\"150\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-819412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Louise Kidd<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With 22 years of industry experience, Kidd joined BHSI in 2020 as head of Third-Party Lines in Ireland, and was subsequently promoted to country manager, Ireland, and global financial lines underwriting officer.<\/p>\n<p>As she assumes her current role, she will continue to serve as global financial lines underwriting officer.
