The planned ETF would be passively managed and invest in companies that are headquartered in Texas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"79\" data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s the latest in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2025-03-20\/blackrock-dials-back-esg-in-campaign-to-placate-trump-s-republicans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">charm offensive<\/a> of sorts in the state for the investing giant and founder Larry Fink after the firm\u2019s embrace of environmental, social and governance investing drew the ire of Republican lawmakers. BlackRock, alongside Citadel Securities, is also an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-06-05\/blackrock-citadel-back-upstart-texas-challenge-to-nyse-nasdaq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">early backer<\/a> of the upstart Texas Stock Exchange, which aims to begin trading in 2026. While declining to comment on the ETF beyond the filing, a BlackRock spokesperson said there\u2019s client demand for Texas exposure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur clients have expressed interest in accessing the Texas economy, which has a GDP of $2.6 trillion according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and would be the eighth largest economy in the world on a standalone basis,\u201d a BlackRock spokesperson wrote in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Nasdaq <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-03-18\/nasdaq-unveils-plan-to-open-a-regional-headquarters-in-dallas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> earlier this month that it would open a regional headquarters in Dallas, stating that it has about 800 clients in Texas. About 200 companies listed on Nasdaq are headquartered in the Lone Star state. The New York Stock Exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-02-12\/nyse-opens-new-exchange-in-texas-in-push-to-capture-ipo-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in February that it would launch a fully electronic exchange in Dallas and reincorporate its NYSE Chicago operations in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Fees and a ticker for the fund were not yet listed in the filing.<\/p>\n<p>While many asset managers \u2014 including BlackRock \u2014 control single-country equity funds, state-specific stock funds are far less common.
