{"id":23224,"date":"2025-03-08T00:01:59","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T00:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/?p=814727"},"modified":"2025-03-08T00:01:59","modified_gmt":"2025-03-08T00:01:59","slug":"25-pacific-palisades-fire-victims-sue-la-and-water-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lifeinsurance-orleans.ca\/index.php\/2025\/03\/08\/25-pacific-palisades-fire-victims-sue-la-and-water-power\/","title":{"rendered":"25 Pacific Palisades Fire Victims Sue LA and Water &amp; Power"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/img\/social\/opengraph\/ij-social-lawsuits-1200x630.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<ul class=\"nav nav-tabs tabs tabs-entry\">\n<li class=\"active\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/news\/west\/2025\/03\/07\/814727.htm\">Article<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/news\/west\/2025\/03\/07\/814727.htm?comments\" rel=\"nofollow\">0 Comments<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"article-content clearfix\">\n<p>Twenty-five victims of the Palisades Fire victims filed an inverse condemnation lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court against the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, alleging the entities failed to maintain an adequate water supply and fire hydrant system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLADWP and the City of Los Angeles had a duty to properly construct, inspect, maintain and operate its water supply system,\u201d stated Peter McNulty of the McNulty Law Firm, attorney for the fire victims. \u201cThe system necessarily failed, and this failure was a substantial factor in causing my clients to suffer catastrophic losses.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"79\" data-revive-topics=\"lawsuits\" data-revive-companies data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/news\/west\/2025\/02\/13\/812009.htm\">Insurers Have Now Paid Out Nearly $7B for LA Wildfires<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The suit alleges the city and LADWP\u2019s \u201cfacilities, reservoir, water supply system, hydrants, infrastructure and other public improvements, as deliberately designed and constructed, presented an inherent danger and risk of fire to private property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Palisades Fire burned in conjunction with several fires that hit the L.A. area in January.
