Rallo, saying the fired CEO had stolen millions by faking expense reports.<\/li>\n<li>In a new suit, Rallo says the company&#8217;s claims are false and that his former partner deposed him out of jealousy.<\/li>\n<li>Rallo alleges EF Hutton&#8217;s current CEO and general counsel are running the firm into the ground and that they recently planned to join a competitor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"first-para\">An emotionally charged dispute between investment bank EF Hutton\u2019s co-founders, marked by charges of substance abuse and corporate wrongdoing, has spilled into a second lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Fired EF Hutton CEO Joseph T. Rallo, accused in a recent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkadvisor.com\/2024\/09\/18\/ef-hutton-says-its-fired-ceo-stole-millions\/#:~:text=EF%20Hutton%2C%20an%20investment%20bank,gambling%20den%E2%80%9D%20during%20the%20workday.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> of stealing millions from the firm by faking expense reports, has now filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/pdfserver.amlaw.com\/legalradar\/state-courts\/de-na-311499_complaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complaint<\/a> himself, contending the investment bank\u2019s current CEO and general counsel unlawfully ousted him in a \u201ccoup d\u2019etat.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Accused of Stealing Millions<\/h2>\n<p>EF Hutton, in a lawsuit filed last week in the commercial division of the New York Supreme Court in New York County, alleges&nbsp;Rallo stole millions from the firm by falsifying his expense reports and caroused at a \u201cgambling den\u201d during the workday.<\/p>\n<p>Rallo, firing back in a lawsuit filed Monday in Delaware\u2019s Court of Chancery, describes EF Hutton\u2019s complaint as \u201cfrivolous\u201d and \u201cmeritless,\u201d and alleges his former business partner, now the firm\u2019s CEO, acted out of personal and professional jealousy.<\/p>\n<p>Since casting Rallo out, firm co-founder David Boral and its general counsel \u201chave engaged in further misconduct in an attempt to solidify their position, including defaming Rallo to employees and making entirely false claims that he is broke, suffers from addiction issues, and that it was he who, in fact, tried to oust Boral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch misstatements are the ultimate form of \u2018gaslighting,\u2019 as it is Boral who suffers from addiction problems. His instability and erratic conduct, which now proceed unchecked by Rallo, continues to place the company in severe jeopardy,\u201d Rallo\u2019s complaint alleges.<\/p>\n<p>EF Hutton LLC and EF Hutton Partners contend Rallo used company funds for extravagant personal expenses, writing at least some off on his tax return despite the reimbursements, and has a \u201csevere gambling problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among other allegations in its lawsuit, the firm reports federal agents seized Rallo\u2019s phone at his home in May in connection with a U.S. attorney\u2019s office investigation seeking records related to potential securities and wire fraud.<\/p>\n<p>The firm also alleges Rallo fraudulently prompted it to reimburse him for private jets for family vacations, tickets&nbsp;for premium seats at sporting events he attended with his bookie and intravenous drips&nbsp;to treat hangovers from excessive alcohol and drug usage, among other personal expenses.<\/p>\n<h2>Claim: Old and New Jealousy<\/h2>\n<p>Rallo, who co-founded the firm and helped revive a once-storied Wall Street brokerage\u2019s name, alleges in his lawsuit that Boral&nbsp;\u2014 described as his formerly trusted business partner&nbsp;\u2014 now holds the CEO post unlawfully.<\/p>\n<p>EF Hutton Holdings and the firm\u2019s general counsel, Ryan Whalen, also are named as defendants. Rallo contends the firm filed its lawsuit in New York last week as a preemptive move to discredit him, in anticipation of his complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Rallo alleges Boral\u2019s \u201csubstance abuse and jealousy of Rallo\u201d strained their relationship and led to the purported coup.<\/p>\n<p>He cites a 2022 weekend that he and his wife hosted at their family home, in which \u201cBoral\u2019s wife remarked that Rallo, and not her husband, was clearly the \u2018Alpha\u2019 at EF Hutton. Boral became extremely agitated over this and retired early to bed in a foul mood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rallo, comparing his upbringing to Boral\u2019s, contends this \u201cjealousy\u201d started years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRallo developed a respect for Boral and his drive and determination to make something of himself in the face of a difficult childhood. Rallo grew-up in a tight-knit, middle class Maryland family, whereas Boral grew up raised by a single mother, and with an absentee father abusing, and selling, narcotics,\u201d the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the death of his mother, Boral gravitated toward Rallo and his family and began developing a close relationship with Rallo\u2019s parents. It was not uncommon for Boral to contact Rallo\u2019s parents directly, particularly Rallo\u2019s father, for advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt times, however, Boral made clear he was jealous of Rallo\u2019s tight-knit family \u2014 a jealousy that would rear its head again in the years to come,\u201d Rallo\u2019s complaint alleges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What You Need to Know EF Hutton recently sued Joseph T.
