Mr. Littlejohn then destroyed evidence and obstructed law enforcement investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those notable figures included&nbsp;billionaires like&nbsp;Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Elon Musk and Peter Thiel. ProPublica used the data to report on tax avoidance techniques used by the ultra-wealthy, such as Thiel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/lord-of-the-roths-how-tech-mogul-peter-thiel-turned-a-retirement-account-for-the-middle-class-into-a-5-billion-dollar-tax-free-piggy-bank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">use of a Roth IRA<\/a> to grow shares of a nascent startup into a tax-free multibillion-dollar retirement haul.<\/p>\n<p>Current law \u201cfailed to deter Mr. Littlejohn from stealing and leaking private and sensitive taxpayer information,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Smith continued, \u201cthe Department of Justice only charged Mr. Littlejohn with a single count of unauthorized disclosure of private tax information.
