Earlier in 2024, it sank to a record relative low as chipmakers and software stocks rallied amid the artificial-intelligence craze.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the population of actively managed funds dedicated to value peaked near 1,100 in 2015 and has since fallen 15%, according to data compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence mutual fund analyst David Cohne.<\/p>\n<p>Those that survived have been leaning into technology equities, mostly growth names. As of the end of June, the average large-cap value fund was over-exposed to the group \u2014 which includes Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon.com, Meta Platforms and Alphabet \u2014 by 426 basis points, the second highest quarterly reading since at least 2012, data compiled by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. show.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"filtered\"><img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-549616\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.thinkadvisor.com\/contrib\/content\/uploads\/sites\/415\/2024\/09\/416803522-1024x618.jpg\" alt=\"Value Managers Dip Into Growth Stocks | Exposure to Big Tech names sits near record high\" width=\"625\" height=\"377\"><\/figure>\n<p>Still, whether a stock is a bargain&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2010-10-28\/exxon-gains-trail-chevron-as-investors-dispute-russell-growth-stock-rank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">depends on<\/a>&nbsp;who\u2019s judging it. Value can be sliced and diced endlessly and index providers can\u2019t agree on a definition.
