Medicare now covers a wide range of mental health services.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicare.gov\/Pubs\/pdf\/10184-Medicare-and-Your-Mental-Health-Benefits.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">24-page guide to Medicare\u2019s mental health benefits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>The Standard Benefits<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Preventive services:<\/strong> Medicare Part B covers annual depression screenings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Medications:<\/strong>&nbsp;Medicare Part D covers the medications used to treat mental health conditions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outpatient treatment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Years ago, health insurers skimped on coverage for mental health services delivered outside of institutions. Today, Medicare Part B covers psychiatric evaluations, individual therapy, group therapy and other services provided in outpatient settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Telehealth services:<\/strong> Medicare is now more likely than in the past to cover counseling and other services provided through telehealth systems.
