Today, about 2,800 of the company\u2019s employees serve thousands of customers at more than 100 offices across 16 states.<\/p>\n<p>Those same employees recently propelled the Fort Worth-based company to a notable honor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bzn bzn-sized bzn-intext\">\n<ins data-revive-zoneid=\"79\" data-revive-block=\"1\" data-revive-id=\"36eb7c2bd3daa932a43cc2a8ffbed3a9\"><\/ins> <\/div>\n<p>Higginbotham earned the Bronze Regional Award for the South Central region in Insurance Journal\u2019s annual Best Agencies to Work For competition. The agency won the award based on employee responses to the annual survey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a firm, we walk the walk,\u201d an employee wrote in their responses. \u201cWe treat our clients and coworkers like family. (Higginbotham is) truly an outstanding agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fort Worth-based agency was founded in 1948 has been owned by employees since Rusty Reid, Higginbotham\u2019s chairman and CEO, took the helm in 1989. Since then, the agency has experienced \u201c20-plus percent year-over-year growth,\u201d Reid said, and the agency continues to grow through partnerships and expanded offerings.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ij-best-agencies-to-work-for-2023-bronze.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-749072 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ij-best-agencies-to-work-for-2023-bronze-150x150.png\" alt width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ij-best-agencies-to-work-for-2023-bronze-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.insurancejournal.com\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ij-best-agencies-to-work-for-2023-bronze.png 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>About 65% of Higginbotham\u2019s business is personal and commercial property\/casualty coverage and risk management. The remaining 35% covers employee benefits, human resources and financial services. Higginbotham also offers regular engagement, support and sharing of expertise through the company\u2019s \u201cday two services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Survey respondents praised the agency\u2019s family atmosphere, emphasis on employee happiness and commitment to community involvement. Multiple employees said Higginbotham embodies what it means for a company to put its \u201cpeople first.\u201d Many others highlighted the structure that enables employees to best serve their clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur people care for one another and for our external stakeholders,\u201d an employee wrote in their survey response. \u201cYou see it demonstrated daily in the hallways, meeting rooms and at events throughout the year. Are we successful? Yes! Do we have proven growth ahead?<\/p>\n<p>Yes! But what truly makes us the best is the way you feel at work, and the tools and resources they provide to us to do our jobs well. They set us up for success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he believes makes Higginbotham a great place to work, Reid pointed to all employees\u2019 participation in Higginbotham\u2019s ownership and synthetic equity plans, as well as leadership\u2019s focus on fostering a constructive working environment. He also shared that Higginbotham\u2019s charitable giving and volunteer efforts support the company\u2019s community mindset.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to say you kind of want to be a great place to work,\u201d Reid said. \u201cBut it\u2019s like anything else in life. Things aren\u2019t easy. You\u2019ve got to be intentional. You\u2019ve got to be mindful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Higginbotham team members have donated millions of dollars through the organization\u2019s community fund. That fund is built entirely through employee donations, and employees who contribute to the fund may request grants for specific nonprofit organizations.
