The Nova Scotia Teachers\u2019 Pension Plan Trustee Inc. has appointed John Rogers as its new chair, effective July 1, 2020.<\/p>\n

The trusteeship manages the plan, which has a membership made up of teachers in the province represented by the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, as well as school administrators, faculty and professional support staff at the Nova Scotia Community College.<\/p>\n

Rogers will replace current chair, John Carter, whose 10-year term ends on June 30. Rogers is currently a director of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, chair and member of Acadia University\u2019s board of governors and a director and former chair of the United Way Halifax.<\/p>\n

He was also the chief executive officer and managing partner at Stewart McKelvey for 12 years, previously held chair and director roles at the IWK Health Centre and Halifax Chamber of Commerce and was a trustee of the Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to continuing the work of the directors to stabilize the teachers\u2019 pension fund and ensure its long-term health,\u201d said Rogers in a press release. \u201cIt\u2019s crucial we work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions to protect and strengthen the retirement income of the more than 20,000 Nova Scotians who belong to this plan.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other personnel news, the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System is promoting Rob Ecclestone to head of business human resources, effective May 1.<\/p>\n

With a combined 15 years at the OMERS and its real estate investment arm, Oxford Properties Group, Ecclestone is currently vice-president of HR. In the new role, his first priority will be to bring the organization\u2019s investments HR team and corporate HR team together.<\/p>\n
