{"id":16336,"date":"2019-08-12T15:17:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-12T19:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insurance-journal.ca\/article\/many-canadians-financially-unprepared-for-a-career-change\/"},"modified":"2019-08-12T15:17:08","modified_gmt":"2019-08-12T19:17:08","slug":"many-canadians-financially-unprepared-for-a-career-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lifeinsurance-orleans.ca\/index.php\/2019\/08\/12\/many-canadians-financially-unprepared-for-a-career-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Many Canadians financially unprepared for a career change"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/insurance-journal.ca\/media\/photologue\/photos\/photo_web_3189.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>While 54 per cent of Canadians have considered a career change in the past twelve months, close to half (46 per cent) say a lack of financial preparedness is a barrier to making such a move, according to the results of a new survey released Aug. 12 by <strong>Edward Jones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The survey data revealed that those least likely to feel financially prepared to make a career change include Canadians ages 18-34 (52 per cent) and 35-44 (51 per cent); women (54 per cent compared to 44 per cent of men) and individuals earning under $40K.<\/p>\n<h5>An advisor can help<\/h5>\n<p>\u201cCareer changes can mean taking a significant step towards finding personal fulfillment, but it&#8217;s a transition that should be thoughtfully planned,\u201d said <strong>Patrick French<\/strong>, principal of solutions-based strategy and tools with Edward Jones. \u201cTaking a career turn without having a solid financial foundation in place could put one\u2019s long-term plans at risk.
