{"id":14983,"date":"2019-05-20T16:27:14","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T20:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insurance-journal.ca\/article\/online-insurance-sales-regulation-now-published\/"},"modified":"2019-05-20T16:27:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T20:27:14","slug":"online-insurance-sales-regulation-now-published","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lifeinsurance-orleans.ca\/index.php\/2019\/05\/20\/online-insurance-sales-regulation-now-published\/","title":{"rendered":"Online insurance sales: regulation now published"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/insurance-journal.ca\/media\/photologue\/photos\/buying_online.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>The <strong><em>Regulation respecting Alternative Distribution Methods<\/em><\/strong>, which governs online sales of insurance products and distribution without representatives, was published today by the <strong>Autorit\u00e9 des march\u00e9s financiers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This regulation supplement several articles of <em>An Act mainly to improve the regulation of the financial sector, the protection of deposits of money and the operation of financial institutions<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>better known as Bill 141. Adopted on June 13, 2018, the Act notably amends the <em>Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services<\/em>, the <em>Act respecting insurance <\/em>and the Code Civil of Qu\u00e9bec<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AMF endeavoured to clearly understand the issues and perspectives of stakeholders and consumers during the public consultation process held last fall,\u201d says <strong>Louis Morisset<\/strong>, President and CEO of the Autorit\u00e9 des march\u00e9s financiers. \u201cThe result is a robust regulation that protects consumers while letting the industry innovate.\u201d\u2009<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Regulation imposes on independent firms and businesses the same obligations as those that apply to representatives, which lets consumers be protected regardless of the means they used to purchase a financial product or service,\u201d&nbsp;adds <strong>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric P\u00e9rodeau<\/strong>, Superintendent, Client Services and Distribution Oversight at the AMF.<\/p>\n<p>At the consultation the AMF organized in October, over 20 stakeholders shared their opinion of the draft regulation.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/insurance-journal.ca\/article\/online-insurance-sales-regulation-now-published\/\">Read the original article at insurance-journal.ca <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Regulation respecting Alternative Distribution Methods, which governs online sales of insurance products and distribution without representatives, was published today by the Autorit\u00e9 des march\u00e9s financiers.
